The in-park concessioner workforce of some 25,000 persons assists visitors an estimated 100 million times annually. The Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education is the premier organization dedicated to serving the needs of recreation and education professionals in non-profit settings. Through AORE, members have a mechanism to interact with and affect decisions made by public land managers and the human powered outdoor recreation industry. AORE is committed to promoting ecologically sound stewardship of the natural environment and serves as a collective voice for its members regarding topics of regional and national concern. Access to trails and outdoor recreation is an important part of local economies, attracting businesses and drawing in new residents and visitors.

Although most of the activities are established sports, individuals can participate without association with teams, competitions or clubs. Activities include backpacking, canoeing, canyoning, caving, climbing, hiking, hill walking, hunting, kayaking, and rafting. Broader groupings include water sports, snow sports, and horseback riding. In many cities, recreational areas for various outdoor activities are created for the population.

The Corps Network leads and supports over 130 of America’s Service and Conservation Corps. Corps are comprehensive youth development programs that engage participants in service projects, job training and academic programming. The value of Colorado’s outdoor recreation economy has grown to $62.5 billion, almost double what it was just five years ago, and now supports about 511,000 jobs across the state, says a state report released Friday. As an industry partner and convener, the office provides recurring opportunities to connect federal, state and local agencies, and industry leaders to discuss everything from state and local incentives, to environmental conservation efforts.
